Day 2 of a 50+ lady learning to ride a motorcyle
Collection of Tom my new bike
Today is the day that I collected my new (second hand) motorcycle. A cherry red, Yamaha YBR125 custom named Tom after my favourite guitarist Tom Morello (morello cherry). I'm so excited! Despite being 7 years old it has only travelled 1487 miles and rides like a dream!
Having had a break away between my CBT and collection day, my wonderful husband rode Tom home for me as the hairpin bends between the shop and home were a little daunting. Needless to say when we arrived home I had a little tryout around the cul-de-sac near my home.
Moving at around 5 mph I pulled out of a bend and was greeted by a young man delivering leaflets. "Gonna do a wheelie love?" he called out. Whilst trying to process what he had just said, a guy in his 4x4 Mitsubishi truck decided to pull out of his driveway into my path. Thankfully he waited and waved me through. I manoeuvred myself around the parked cars within the narrow cul-de-sac, with a few wobbles and continued without any further incident.
That was me done for the day, so time to put the bike away and look forward to my next ride out. I can't wait, I love it!
