Day 6 of a 50+ lady learning to ride a motorcycle
Am I officially cool?

Today's ride was a real boost for my ego. When getting ready to leave, 2 local boys around the age of 8 and 10 were playing near our driveway. The older one claimed that he had a bike whilst the younger one just smiled. The younger one has a small motorcycle that he races at designated tracks and usually just watches me when I arrive home in my car without any expression. Not wishing to accidentally knock into them whilst they played in the road, I left in the opposite direction. My husband overtook me and I followed.
He reached the roundabout at junction 11 and waited for me to arrive. I, of course, didn't know his thoughts and wondered why he had stopped. As I reached the roundabout I saw that it was clear and without stopping, filed onto the roundabout and left at the next exit, leaving him still sitting there, much to his consternation.
We continued on our ride out, again without incident. On our return home, the younger boy was playing outside his house and just stopped, stood up with a big grin on his face and stuck his thumb in the air. I too grinned and gave him a big head nod as I wasn't about to lose my street cred by wobbling off because I had stuck my thumb up. I parked on my driveway and felt as though I have been accepted into the realms of the biker world, albeit a little person's biker world. Does that make me a cool biker chick?
